Unidirectional: for recording a large area in front of the microphone
This mode allows you to record the sound of a larger area in front of the microphone while suppressing the sound behind the microphone, making it perfect for recording panel discussions or a music band. 

Superdirectional: Record sound directly in front of the camera
This mode is very effective at suppressing sounds next to and behind the microphone, while amplifying the sound directly in front of it.

Omnidirectional: Sound can be recorded in all directions
Good for recording conversations between the camera operator and an interviewee or general ambient noise. 

Digital audio interface support for clear sound 
The ECMB10 is compatible with many Sony cameras. When using the microphone on a camera with a Multi Interface (MI) shoe that supports a digital audio interface, audio recordings can be transmitted directly as a digital signal, enabling high sound quality without audio loss.
